Summary

A cape of land next to the town of Porto Fino.  The residents of the town  “were called delfini (“dolphins”) by the Greeks and Romans, so apt were they at sea navigation.“ -Guy de Maupassant. Wikipedia disagrees, giving the large number of dolphins in the region as the source of the name.

The town was originally called “Porto Delphinus” which then became Porto Fino over time.
