Summary
“Contribution-land” describes areas and villages in the war-zone that were forced by Spanish and Dutch forces to contribute to the war effort. Evelyn describes them as “….being Contribution-land, was subject to the inroads and depredations of the bordering States” – 8th October, 1641.
