Manège (Menage)

A Manège is a covered area used to school horses.  Evelyn uses the term Menage when describing areas used to train horses – a common misspelling.  Ménage refers to housekeeping.

For example:

“The Tennis Court, and Cavallerizzo, for the menaged horses, are also observable” – 27th February, 1644
