We took post for Richelieu, passing by l’Isle Bouchard ((On the Vienne, a tributary of the Loire. Richelieu lies to the S.E. of it.  –AD)), a village in the way.

Two of my kinsmen ((William Keightley and his brother Thomas Keightley Source: John Evelyn: living for Inguiniety -GS)) came from Paris to this place, where I settled them in their pension and exercises.
